Do I need implants?

If you have lost one or more teeth or never developed a tooth in a certain site, dental implants may be an appropriate treatment option for you. The ideal candidate for dental implants is in good general and oral health, has an adequate bone structure in their jaw to support the implant, and has healthy gum tissues that are free of periodontal disease. Your periodontist will assess all of these factors and discuss them with you.

What can I expect with Implant treatment?

You will have an initial consultation to assess your problems and needs and discuss with you your various treatment options and risks. You will then receive a cost estimation for your treatment. If necessary, we may request a 3D CT scan to determine the bone volume at the site where the implant will be placed. Ideally you will need to see our oral hygienists prior to treatment so that she can reduce the bacterial load in your mouth. A high bacterial count increases the risk of complications.

Aftercare

Dental implants are almost the same as your natural teeth, so they require the same care. To keep your implant clean and free from plaque, you still need to brush and floss regularly.

After your implant is placed, we will schedule follow-up visits to monitor your implant, gums and teeth to make sure they are healthy.
